How Microneedling Works
Microneedling, also known as Percutaneous Collagen Induction (PCI), stimulates the skin’s natural healing response through controlled micro-injury. Pre-Treatment Guildelines
- To ensure your skin is in the ideal condition for microneedling, please follow these pre-treatment recommendations:
- Avoid active skincare ingredients such as retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), beta hydroxy acids (BHA), and exfoliating enzymes for 3–5 days prior to your appointment.
- Discontinue tanning, self-tanner, or prolonged sun exposure for at least one week before treatment.
- Do not schedule chemical peels, waxing, or laser treatments on the treated area for at least 7–10 days prior.
- Inform your professional if you have any recent acne breakouts, cold sores, or open wounds.
- Hydrate well and arrive with clean skin, free of makeup, sunscreen, or lotion.
- If you are prone to cold sores (HSV-1), an antiviral prophylaxis may be recommended prior to treatment.
- Do not tan prior or after treatment.
- You should not eat 2 hours before and 1 hour after treatment.

Post-Care Instructions

- Mild redness, warmth, or tightness is normal and typically resolves within 24–48 hours.
- Avoid touching the treated area unnecessarily.
- Refrain from applying makeup, sunscreen, or skincare products for at least 24 hours unless instructed otherwise.
- Use only the post-procedure products provided or recommended by your Intelligent Aging Studio professional (typically a soothing peptide or hyaluronic acid serum).
Days 2–5:
- Continue gentle cleansing with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser.
- Apply a healing, non-comedogenic moisturizer or a hyaluronic acid serum to maintain hydration.
- Avoid retinol, vitamin C, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and exfoliants for 5–7 days.
- Protect the skin from UV exposure using broad-spectrum SPF 30+ once it is safe to resume sunscreen use (typically 48–72 hours post-treatment).
Days 5–14:
- Any light flaking or dryness is part of the renewal process—do not pick or exfoliate.
- Resume regular skincare gradually as advised by your provider.
- Maintain hydration and avoid excessive sweating, saunas, or swimming for one week post-treatment.
Long-Term Maintenance:
Consistent sun protection and home care are essential to protect your new collagen and prolong results.
